Privacy policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

This policy explains how Silver Birch Tree & Gardening Service (“we”, “us”) uses personal data when you visit this website or contact us. We aim to collect only what we need to reply to you and to carry out the work you ask for.

Who we are

The data controller is Silver Birch Tree & Gardening Service, serving Counties Kildare, Dublin and Meath, Ireland. You can contact us about privacy by phone or WhatsApp on 085 765 6966.

What we collect

  • Enquiries: when you use the quote form, call, email or message us on WhatsApp, we receive your name, phone number, email (if given), Eircode or area, details of the job, any photos you send, and how you prefer to be contacted.
  • Customers: if you book work, we also keep the address of the job, the quote, invoices and payment records.
  • Website use: our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site. See our cookie policy.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote: because you asked us to (steps before entering a contract).
  • To carry out and invoice the work: to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep accounts and tax records: to meet our legal obligations.
  • To keep the website secure and working: our legitimate interests.
  • Analytics: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

We do not sell your data, and we won't send you marketing unless you separately ask us to.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Website hosting and quote-form storage: Netlify, Inc.
  • Email and phone/WhatsApp services we use to talk to you
  • Google Analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies)
  • Our accountant, and authorities where the law requires it

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on approved safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't lead to work: only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, then deleted.
  • Customer and financial records: for as long as Irish tax law requires (generally six years).

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Contact us using the details above and we'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Photos of your garden

We may photograph our work before and after. We will only publish photos of your property on our website or social media with your permission, and we avoid showing house numbers, faces or car registrations.
