South Dublin covers everything from Victorian terraces near the city to big suburban gardens at the foot of the Dublin Mountains. We look after gardens right across the area. Here's what tends to come up in each part of it.
Ballsbridge and Donnybrook
Period houses, long back gardens and big mature trees. Much of the area falls within Dublin City Council conservation areas, so tree work often needs a check with the council first. Careful crown reduction is common here, keeping large trees in proportion with the house and the neighbours.
Dundrum and Rathfarnham
Established estates with boundary hedges planted decades ago, many now well above head height. Rathfarnham's higher gardens towards the mountains also catch more wind and rain. Hedge reductions, regular garden maintenance and storm-damaged branches are the usual jobs. Most of Dundrum is in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, while Rathfarnham straddles Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown and South Dublin councils.
Blackrock and Dún Laoghaire
Coastal gardens deal with salt-laden wind, which scorches tender plants and favours tough hedging like griselinia and escallonia. Many older houses have walled gardens with limited access, so cuttings often go out through the house. Several parts of Dún Laoghaire and Blackrock are conservation areas too.
What South Dublin customers ask for most
- Regular garden maintenance for busy households and rental properties
- Hedge trimming and height reductions on overgrown boundaries
- Crown reduction and thinning on mature trees blocking light
- Garden clearances before a sale or a new tenancy
